Police arrested and charged three people with using tear gas during last Friday’s protests.
The incident happened outside the Hollywood Restaurant in the 5900 block of Franklin Avenue. Los Angeles police believe the suspects handed out tear gas canisters to each other. Investigators believe they intended to confront the protesters and provoke them into a fight.
Investigators first learned of the incident when two of the victims entered the Hollywood station and told officers they were placing two of the suspects, Daniel Villeda Gonzalez and Kamryn Yborn, under citizen’s arrest. It was when After filling out the appropriate paperwork, officers headed to the scene and took Mr. Gonzalez and Mr. Iborn into custody.
While there, a witness approached officers and told them about another man who had allegedly assaulted another person during the protest. The victim led officers to the suspect, Scott Hochstetter, who was later arrested.
All three suspects were arrested on charges of conspiracy and illegal use of tear gas.
