life (2017)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
You’ve probably seen clips of this sci-fi movie featuring the incredible talents of Ryan Reynolds, Jake Gyllenhaal, and Rebecca Ferguson going viral on TikTok over the past few months. And I was a little surprised to see that the movie didn’t actually do that. It was also frequently viewed on Netflix when it rejoined the network in July. Combining various genres, the film follows a team that discovers a new creature in space and begins to rapidly evolve, causing mayhem. It’s a thrilling watch, as evidenced by its millions of likes and views on TikTok, and while the story ends a little half-heartedly, it’s still an engaging watch. is.
Soft & Quiet (2023)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
Time really flies, and it was in 2023 that we exclusively reported that Netflix will make the streaming debut of this Blumhouse thriller, arriving for U.S. subscribers on May 1, 2023. That was in April of 2016. This overlooked horror-thriller has some truly great (albeit messed up) moments, especially the fact that it was edited to look like the entire thing was filmed in one take. You won’t recognize any of the performers, but that becomes a key point as we follow an elementary school teacher who hosts a group in her home. The teacher eventually resorts to insanity. Perfect as a Halloween watch.
room (2015)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
Sticking with the thriller theme, it’s the first of two A24 movies to leave Netflix US on November 1st. The film, starring Brie Larson, follows her character Ma and her son (played by a young Jacob Tremblay), who have been locked in a small room since birth, but a moment of good fortune occurs and they manage to escape. This is the story. It won an Oscar a few years ago, and it’s no surprise. It keeps the audience on the edge of their seats throughout the entire film.
dark water (2019)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
Mark Ruffalo gives the best performance of his career in this brilliant legal drama, which hit theaters five years ago and tells the story of a lawyer who takes on a seemingly unwinnable case against a company that has been polluting local waterways for years. are. Inspired by true events, the film’s production team previously worked on the great reveal-style films The Post and Spotlight.
Spectacular Now (2020)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
The romance film, starring Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley and re-added to Netflix on August 1, tells the story of a hard-partying high school senior who meets a not-so-typical “nice girl.” It depicts a story that will change your outlook on life.
This is the second movie for the distributor to leave Netflix, but on the bright side, Netflix will still keep a lot of great A24 movies for a while, and on November 1st, whalewon an Oscar.
sonic the hedgehog (2020)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
Sonic the Hedgehog has recently become one of Paramount’s most profitable IPs, and it’s crazy to think that the first movie appealed to both fans and newcomers to the classic Sega video game series . With the third movie introducing fan-favorite Shadow coming soon, it’s the perfect time to revisit the first movie that started it all.
Monty Python’s Life of Brian (1979)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
In case you missed the news, Netflix plans to take the entire Monty Python Collection off service worldwide on the 1st of the month. Yes, this includes all series and movies, totaling 15 titles. If you don’t have time or want to get a taste of what Monty Python is all about, The Life of Brian is definitely considered the most popular of all the titles. Directed by Terry Jones, this cult classic follows Brian as he joins a group of anti-Roman fanatics.
world war z (2013)
Leaving Netflix on November 1st
For some reason, there’s still a pretty harsh reaction on the internet to Brad Pitt’s big foray into the zombie genre. Pitt plays the role of a United Nations employee who is fighting against time and fate as he travels around the world to stop the outbreak of a deadly zombie pandemic. The internet can snipe from the sidelines, but I’ll die on a hill saying this remains one of the best mainstream zombie movies of modern times.
a man named otto (2022)
Netflix will end on November 5th
As you may know, Netflix has been distributing new post-theatrical Sony movies for the last few years, and our data guy Frederic told me recently that the biggest release of all these movies is Viewer numbers were recorded as follows: a man named ottostarring Tom Hanks.
